Florida mom killed over neighborhood dispute was 'unjustified shooting,' sheriff says

Florida sheriff Billy Woods said the woman who shot through her front door, killing her neighbor, Ajike "AJ" Owens, was not a justified shooting under Florida's "Stand Your Ground" law. "It was simply a killing," he said.

She harassed 9 and 11yr olds, stole their IPad, the kids mom came to retrieve HER property, she was shot through the door. I understand where the cops are coming from when someone envokes the SYG law. They did good. You can’t kill just because you want too

Lots of people have issues with their neighbors. You can't shoot someone through a closed door and claim self-defense. Knocking or yelling at someone isn't a reason to kill someone. Unfortunate situation for all involved, especially the children.

This women is a risk to the public. She could have killed that child that was standing next to his mother. No excuse's, for people to have that much hate. Children playing she sounds like a nut. She worried about them on her property what did it hurt. I have several property's and as long as their not destroying it. But l would not take a gun out and kill anyone for something that can be replace. These people act like their taking their property to their grave especially when its owned by the bank. Come to find out she's renting the property it's not her house. The lawyer asked her did she know she was being evicted by the landlord and she said she didn't know it. This so heart breaking that child seeing his mother get killed. He's life won't be the same. This was a evil act, hating on children disgusting.

I am not super-confident about this Sheriff. He already doesn't sound very certain about some of the details: "Manslaughter for now..." and "...may go to a jury, if it gets that far..." He's already hamstrung the prosecution by delaying the childrens' interviews by three days...

The fact she's being charged with manslaughter is a sign they're either under pressure to charge her with something, or they're using that to buy them time to find more evidence to charge her with murder. I don't think they're expecting that manslaughter charge to stick from the looks of it.

Nobody knows the truth at this point, don’t judge until the facts come out .. the woman had to be terrified to shoot threw a door, I myself would’ve opened the door.. I just refuse to fight with my neighbors.. it’s just not worth it .. be polite to your neighbors and they should act in kind back.

Sheriff should not be speaking about the case, especially where he is saying that he wanted to close all "loop-holes" (i.e. that's not an investigation that follows the facts to a conclusion, but a conclusion looking for facts).

The now deceased woman admitted to threatening the old woman the night before, at the old woman's doorstep banging on the window and door (as recounted by a female officer who responded to that incident. e.g. "if it happens again, you're gonna deal with me"). On the following day, the deceased woman went back over to the old woman's house, following through with her previous threats, and once again banging on windows and the door (as recounted by residents who didn't see anything, but heard the deceased banging "loudly" on windows and doors, i.e. "it was really loud" said another resident who also saw nothing but heard the "really loud" banging).

Stand your ground is NOT a "loop-hole". And prosecutor's, not sheriff's, make that determination. What a fraud.

Why the hell was the No Trespassing sign good enough, ask the Judge ? That tall big boned Lady at the door bruising her fists as she pounded violently AFTER DARK at an elderly lady's house who was all alone Speaks Volumes !!! 🤷The Lady inside had no other choice she could not go out in the dark & beat her up !!! 🤦😢😭🤧You don't sit down & read a book about what to do if this is about to happen to you in the next five minutes !!! Why wouldn't they want to interview the witnesses right away when the incident is fresh on their brains?? She should have been arrested immediately, had the tables been turned and it was a woman of color that had pulled the trigger there would have been an immediate arrest! No doubt the woman did feel threatened by her victim but that doesn't give her the right to end her life
