How to replacing a Tachometer cable

How I replaced the tachometer on a yamaha xs850. this will work for 76-82 xs 650/750/850 if i remember correctly

*I am by no means a mechanic and if you do follow any of what I say, take it will a grain of salt! I am living life and enjoying learning new things by actually doing them! Most of this stuff is new to me.
*Motorcycle and Car OEM service manual tells you everything and anything about your vehicle. You can sometimes find them free online, but I highly recommend purchasing a hardcopy.

I don’t suppose you would have the part number for your tacho cable?? I have the same bike and have the same problem with the leak there at the engine

Old tach drives blister and crack with heat and age. Ten dollars seems a small price to pay for having a reliable working tach. Quick fix, right?

Was there a rubber gasket of any sort. To replace

The oil leak is coming from the tachometer cable drive gear oil seal and the drive gear O-ring and not the cable itself
