The FT is a great magazine. It helps to broaden my investment perspective. My subscription helps with the asymmetric fight for information. Sure, some of us who have Bloomberg terminals, teams of MBAs, piles of cash are more equal than others but the FT helps.

You should factor in the corporate tax cut. Since it was slashed suddenly down to 21% from 35% it may be represented as a sudden windfall for the companies who might not need to borrow at the desired levels leading to less loan growth. Also missing in your analysis is the spike of the corporate loan book graph before the slump- is this due to tax cut anticipations or due to over borrowing which led to rates spiking after the fact which might have led to more expensive loan rates reflected in less overall loan growth?

The stable rate of consumer credit growth might fall off suddenly leading to a crisis if the consumers could anticipate an oncoming slowdown. There has been a lot of news in the media lately about a recession so I'm a bit surprised consumer credit is still growing fairly at an OK rate. Either the data is contaminated with other parameters or, more worryingly, the consumer is not plugged into what's happening with the current economic scenario- the latter might be a huge cause of worry if a recession hits- a lot of innocent people might be left in the lurch.

It would be nice to see charts in regards to the extent of debt according to historical standards in the US... Also charts relating how the government printing money into the US market relates to interest rates...

In the long run, It may be a big problem to have granted consumers credit without the necessary guarantees. Not surplisingly, the subprime mortgage crisis and the resulting global economic crisis began just like that. Fortunately, in this case it isn't such a serious thing, at least for now...

Four economy sectors. Primary, secondary, tertiary, Quaternary.
Is there a chart or website or channel, that breaks down WHAT time of year each sector is at its strongest?
As well as a chart that shows historical data Year by year for each sector performance?

Why are we relying on this chart only for corporate loans? Is there no way of finding out if indeed companies are using the bonds market (or other) (company financial statements, relevant chart etc)?
An interested layman

Actually a good and fair review...rare. Need more depth as you indicated how the slowing demand impact economy and earnings at banks ( why the likes of Jpm can sustain large earnings growth despite of this corporate loan demand de-acceleration.). Some analysts on cause would be great.

Probably because corporate loans are bigger, and small cap stocks tend to die off in this quarantine.

It can be a risky situation for the banks not getting income from the loans.

Ummm, when your corporate tax liability shrinks by 14%, so does your need to borrow. Notice the decline beginning Q1 '19, the realization of tax cuts starting in fiscal '18. He kinda forgot to mention that somewhat obvious little nugget.

Corporations seem more organised to manage their Activities without taking loans from Banks, despite availability of loan money at low interest rates.
In one sense it is good sign of Corporate Management.
Less borrow then chance of higher Profitability.
Tackling Global uncertain Economic Situation Confidently.
