Yes, I did that several years ago for our 8 grandchildren. There were 2 layers on each box, and each layer had 12 drawers, 3 on each side. The boxes weren’t as deep as the ones Louise made for hers, but each one held a treat and a little card I made up for doing a Christmas activity each day.

Just made this but without the easel card. Love how it turned out. Those 1/16 inches took some doing, but got there in the end. I built my sheaths around my boxes for a good fit.
