A tree CRASHED onto the ROOF of our NEW RV! But we were SO lucky!

We were camping in our cousin's driveway surrounded by tall trees when a thunderstorm turned especially ugly. We feel lucky to be here to relate the story, since we weren't sure what was going to happen when the winds went berserk. In this video, we relate the details of a pretty terrifying experience and what happened to our RV. @outdoorsrvmfg @mytsolar

Your propane safety valves really showed how important they are. Grateful you’re safe. It’s amazing how much the solar panels saved the roof.

So sorry you experienced such a traumatic ordeal with the storm. I’m happy to hear only minimum damage too. Thankful you both are ok as well as your cousin. Safe travels

Sounds like you both maintained presence of mind and did everything correctly. Hard to believe, but your Guardian Angels had your backs! Whew! Godspeed.

So glad that you two, and your cousins were not physically harmed. The mental side of trauma will remain a bit longer. But you have each other to help you get through that too. Safe travels.

Wow! The power of nature is truly stunning. The Tardis did not, however take you over the rainbow. Glad you both are safe. Take care and stay well.

Sue and I are grateful that no one was injured and your new RV wasn’t severely damaged. I have always liked the UV protection that solar panels provide to our roof, now I know they can do even more.

The main thing is that you two are safe!! The RV can be replaced. This same thing happened to us when we were in a T/ trails On the Oregon Coast in our diesel pusher RV, when we woke up all the trees around us was fallen on top of other RVs but somehow our Rv was unharmed, but we was boxed in and couldn’t leave until crews came out to remove the trees. We was so lucky. Wishing you guys all the best getting your Rv back in shape.

To witness the raw unleashed power of Mother Nature from a well built but let’s face it; doesn’t stand a chance RV—is a moment that will be an indelible memory. Continue to live the good life, say your prayers, and we’ll look forward to updates on the relatively minor repairs.

Even when you're both rattled by a big event- you're still more composed than most of us. Glad you're okay!

Glad no one was hurt and the damage seems minor compared to what it could of been. Safe travels and good luck with the repairs.

I’m glad you two are safe and unharmed.

I am sure having a plywood walk on roof helped to keep those panels from flying away. So glad you just have minor repairs to be done and you are both safe.

Until this week every single RV that I know the owners have had at least one little nick or scratch. That includes me and, like most owners, I found the first visible damage is disheartening. Especially since it usually involves maneuvering slowly near trees and bushes.

I always figured that the RVgeeks would have a gas station other-driver incident or a 'desert sandblasting' incident, but NOT a tree scratch as their first visible damage incident.
I'm glad for a few thing in this story:
1. Nobody got injured,
2. Most of the damage is somewhat minor and easily repairable,
3. Peter and John can breathe easier now that the 'first scratch' event is history.

Good video of the aftermath. Hope all the family and the neighbours are doing okay.
