Welcome to a YouTube channel dedicated to radiation therapy! I'm Rachel or "Rach the RTT," and I am Radiation Therapist.

If you've ever been curious about the field of radiation therapy or are considering it as a career path, you've come to the right place. I'm here to share my knowledge and experience and advocate for the profession.

In this video I answer frequently asked questions about careers in radiation therapy like: the growth rate and demand for radiation therapists, the salaries and compensation, opportunities for growth and advancement, some pros and cons, and how I was inspired to become a radiation therapist.

If there is something you'd like me to cover or discuss comment or send me a message.

As mentioned, if you are interested in skincare or dermatology check out SkinCure Oncology on Youtube!

This was a fantastic first video! It was extremely informative and I love your advice like taking in account on what states you decide to move to for jobs while looking at rent. It makes it feel like a personal conversation rather than strictly looking at statistics. Looking forward to more!

The thing that scares me about this field is the radiation itself. But I feel that it *IS* less traumatic (mentally, psychologically, physically), than a nurse or something.

Thank you from Australia. I am starting this degree this year. This has definitely shed some light and has made me even more exited. So inspiring! Definitely will be seeking to do some shadow work :)

What is the entry level like? What is the competition for a job like? Is the field flooded with too many RTT’s but not enough jobs?

Can you please do a video on the long terms effects of being exposed to radiation? And the risks. I can't find much online which is wierd to me. I was thinking about becoming a Radiatoon Therapist, but I don't want to go through the trouble if I'm just going to end up like my patients. Also do y'all get paid more depending on your degree and certs?

You are a good storyteller. I am interested in medical dosimetry. Can you please host an experienced dosimetrist to speak about the impact of AI on the future of the profession on the one hand and the possibility of working 100% remotely as a dosimetrist on the other?

What do you think about someone in their early 30’s starting this career?

I love this video, thank you for explaining the different avenues, I loved when you brought up a skincare company to work for. I love dermatology and I love radiology it would be a great thing if I could someday do both! If you have time, could you answer me one question, does working with cancer patients take a mental tole on you? or are you able to distance yourself with thoughts like "I am doing my job to help them" this is something I fear. I got into this profession as I wanted to provide a loving service to people like the man who raised me. All advice would be appreciated!

Hi Rachel !! I messaged you on Instagram approximately 4-5 months ago regarding my journey to becoming a radiation therapist. You shared tremendous advice and helped guide me in the proper direction.

Fast forward to now, I was recently accepted into the radiation therapy program at a well known and respected university here in California. I begin in 2 weeks :).

I do have some final questions :

1.) Do you have any advice for passing the radiation physics / bio courses ?

2.) any tips on getting started and getting the feel for the radiation as a whole?

I’ve been watching videos on radiation bio and physics on YouTube and it doesn’t seem like a tough concept to grasp :)

Thanks in advance !!

I'm interested in this career, are there a lot of guys in this field though? I'm almost 34 and I don't want to be a Chef anymore lol

I'm very nervous about going back to school. I've actually never been to college at all. I started working in restaurants right out of high school. I feel like I'm too old and I hate math, I just have no idea what to do. I just want a job where I can help people, support my family, and get out of culinary. (and I just realized this is half your comment section haha)
