Best thinkpad is the thinkbook (or the thinkpad p) it's a budget friendly solid solution, not well known that still gives more upgradability than an x1 carbon

At home, we have L530 and X270, both are used not new. Better than new cheap laptops that turn into e-waste after 2 years.

best thinkpad is t430. You can update everything. CPU, DISPLAY, RAM, HDD, BATTERY, KEYBOARD. and who knows, maybe some day we will find a new mod for those speakers.

The T440 is a bargain, especially with an i7. They go for cheap because the touchpads stink. Just add a Bluetooth mouse. I put thousands of hours on a used one and it is now my backup.
