Most of us are aware of popular R20 features such as the 4.3-inch LCD color touch screen and the onboard synthesizer. However, there are many other notable features of the unit that are often overlooked and shouldn’t be. I wanted to share some of them with anyone interested, in hopes that this information serves useful. Thanks for watching.

I love your presentation method. Its so refreshing in this era where people forget that professionalism is an option.

I used a Tascam cassette recorder for a long time them bought a zoom recorder, I think they're brilliant, 10 out of 10 for your demonstration 🤗.

I love your video on the Zoom R-20. Can you let me know if you can import sample drum loops or bass loops into the R-20 and store them on there or do you have to import them into a DAW system and them select them from there? Thanks so much. I'm seriously considering getting one of these but I need to be able to add bass tracks to projects. Thanks again.

Great vid. I’ll watch the others, so if you address this question in those vids no need to reply: Can you mix down to the units SD card (to Wav. file for Eg)? I would like to use the unit to mix down our live recordings without having to export files a PC/Mac via USB, then simply plug the SD card into my Mac and share the files from there. Ie NO wires and extra connectivity steps :)

Love the fact that Zoom and Tascam are still updating their hardware MTRs, but I really do feel that Zoom have missed the mark with the R20. Firstly the inputs seem a bit strange, with 6 x XLR - I can see that this would make sense for miking up a drum kit etc, but how many people who are that dedicated to drum sound are going to be using a 'cheapish' MTR? I would have thought a larger market for the device would be the home studio/amateur band, where more phono jacks would make sense. Whilst the Midi track seems a great idea, it's a shame that it can't be used to play external instruments, as the onboard sounds are mediocre at best. Lack of battery power also seems a bit of an oversight, though the recently announced R12 brings this back. I really want to like this, but think Zoom's own L12 and L8 make much more sense.

Now if only Tascam would bring back Midi to the DP range 😄

I have watched a lot of your videos regarding the R20. Very nicely down. But I haven't found an answer to this question. I hope you can answer it.... Is there an option or an effect for fading in or out on a single track or the whole recording? If you wanted to fade out the song at the end, would you just slide the master fader down during mix down? I am still considering this unit. Thanks for all the info you share on here.

2 Questions:
Is there a time length recording limit?
Can you record without the bars (so in sec/min)?

Is it possible to connect this zoom R20 on the sound card ?

Awesome! Thank you. Just curious, do you know if you can use the R20 effects when using it as an interface?

I own this unit and I got it partly because I wanted to hook it up to my mpc one. The problem was that although the M pc one recognized it... For some reason I was not able to get it to play through it. I couldn't get the audio to work with it. In contrast I hooked the tascam model 12 up and had no problem. If you have an MPCI would definitely go with the model 12 or 1 of the variants like the model 24. I'm still gonna keep this for when I decide to record it friends as houses and staff other field recording but it's it it's disappointed me that it couldn't be synced with the mpc.

This is a really well done video and very helpful. I have an unusual question. Could I use this as a pseudo guitar multi-effects processor at home for jamming? For example, could I plug in my electric guitar to the R20 and turn on an effect 1 at a time or multiple effects at once? I.e - chorus, delay, OD, gate? The reason I’m asking is that I would like to play multi effects with my guitar through powered speakers connected to the R20- and of course do some recording as well. Trying to kill two birds with one stone. Any advice?

I recently got this and I'm not sure if I'm missing something, but is there automation? And can I select multiple regions to move at the same time? If not, I'm not sure about this unit

Hi I enjoy your reviews on the zoom r20. What type of sd card do you recommend? Thx

All I want is a unit that I can record my originals on. too much information and complicated. In the old days I had a reel to reel to record an instrument on the right channel and another on the left. will the r20 do this without a DAW?

What is the best? Tascan dp 24sd or Zoom Rc20

50 regions per project is a limitation. I have to bounce it means that I can not go back 😢
