Field Dressing Knot for Hunters

Показать описание
A subscriber asked about a knot to help suspend a deer or hog from a tree after hunting. This knot is a variation of the Timberhitch. Hopefully somebody with a bush craft channel can help prove whether it works like the proof of concept .

The good ol' round turn and two half hitches is underrated.

One thing I've noticed, using/attempting to use 550 cord for this same application: The points where the rope slides against the rope, the rope will melt very easily, and the points where the rope drags against the tree will rapidly fail if it takes any load while in high-friction with the tree. If you're only 1 person doing this with a white tail doe or heavier, plastic ropes don't seem to be appropriate for friction-braking, and so can't be reliably used for friction-based mechanical advantage. The pulley system shown here is needed, or you'll ruin the rope on the first use.

in germany we would call it a "carpenters knot" and is a highly versatile knot

Correct me if I am wrong.

The knot/hitch is the same in both directions? Like in a spilled vs non-spilled knot, both can be brought behind the tree to lock it in
