Paris 2024 Olympics Update: Tuileries Gardens

Paris (yes the one in France) has been my home for years now and I have every intention of staying here for as long as they'll have me. I write science-fiction and fantasy, vlogged daily for 3+ years, and love pizza a little too much. I didnt know the Olympics was being held in Paris when I booked my once in a lifetime trip (booked in Nov 2023 for early June 2024 trip) so it was heartbreaking to have all of this construction and things being closed off. But once I remembered that Paris is more than its monuments, and simply avoided those, it was still a dream trip. I should feel cheated, but I don't.

Random question.... I see the Louvre has timed entry tickets now during July and August.... does this mean no lines? Or will there still be crazy lines?

The Champs de Mars grass was so green without those pesky tourists walking all over it. The fence all around did help. Looking forward to watching the games but unfortunately from afar and on TV. It’ll be the beautiful games.

Have they announced how quickly they plan on taking down venues, fences, and areas that are no longer part of the games? It would be a shame for my family to arrive on Aug 6 to empty venues that block access to public spaces. Any available information on that Jay?

In Paris today and so many previously public spaces are cordoned off in Olympic preparation. Great city and still magic to visit but I hope all these spaces reopen after the Olympics and don’t become private access only

Jay, thanks for the shout out! I was just in the Tuileries a few weeks ago. It sure changed fast! Looks like you did the Txango Tours route- I took a ride with them when my daughter was visiting. What an amazing experience! Thanks for sharing your Paris life. It is really adding to living here!

Supposedly the Tuileries is where the olympic cauldron is going to go; I wonder if that skybridge will become a viewing platform once the flame is lit?

the first wooden stand facing the Eiffel tower is probably for international tv to have the eiffel tower in the background are they sit at a desk. BBC does it all the time. For the Euros they have stands facing the brandeburg gate behind them.

My mother and sister who both live in Paris will run away from the city during the Olympics. They have booked my home for a whole month !
