Scotty Kilmer recommends the aftermarket Gates belt.

I had different experiences and would rather use OE belts and other OE parts for most DIY projects.

I’m not a DIYer, I used to never service my cars at a dealer. Thought I’d save money. I purchased a newer car and started using the dealer… the pricing difference and labor rates were negligible. It wasn’t much difference at all. Pads and rotors were $100 more at the dealer. I will continue to service my Honda at the dealer

I used a Gates timing belt kit on my 2007 Honda Pilot a couple of years ago. The tensioner and idler pulleys are Koyo, made in Japan. The water pump and hydraulic tensioner are made in China. Guess what stared leaking after 6.500 miles? The water pump of course. I e mailed Gates last week and voiced my dissatisfaction, they have yet to respond. I've since ordered an Aisin water pump and hydraulic tensioner.

Gates timing belt kits used to include pullies/bearings that were made in Japan. They switched about 6 years or so ago to cheaper Chinese ones. So I would definitely stay away from those.

They used to be the ones most Subaru DIY's would use on their cars, until Gates decided to cheap out on the parts quality.

Over the years i have found genuine Toyota or Mitsubishi to be far superior to even quality pattern parts, for instance genuine brake rotors have less run-out than even branded after market replacements.
