I got a ficus elástica at the botanical garden in Montreal. It got confiscated at the border coming back to the United States. This video brought me joy in knowing that it could still be alive and well out there.

At first I thought, "why confiscate if you're just gonna grow them somewhere else?" But I fully understood when you talked about distributing the seeds! I'm in the reptile community and many animals are wild-caught which is bad for the environment and leaves the owner with an animal that will probably die, so I'm a huge advocate for captive breeding. Only buy animals the are captive bred unless you plan on breeding and selling the animals you buy. Like legless lizards? Nobody can figure out how to breed them so all pets are wild caught.

The government is too busy collecting taxes from us poor citizens, they don’t have the time and patience to be growing plants!
