A strategy to tackle half life and exponential decay word problems without having to use a formula.

I thought 51200:2 = ca 25 000 :2= ca 12500 :2= ca 6000. 6k and 6400 are almost the same so 3 times 25. So I think to round it in this example is much easier than calculate it exactly.

I dont know about this, but this is how i interpret your solution.
6400=n
So n(2)= n
Feed n back to n(2) until 51, 200
With every new n is n=+25

You're a bit screwed with this method if the problem doesn't come out so cleanly like what year was it 10456 or something.... :)
