I wouldn't let a kid use a mower unsupervised. When I was about 10, my mower stopped because moist cut grass accumulated near the blade. I flipped the mower over on it's side, I took the blade in two hands and tried to spin it free like the early air plane guys would grab a propeller to start the plane engine. I didn't realize this would start the mower back on. Right in my face, the mower started up with my hands by the blades. I jumped back and just missed getting both my hands chopped off. God spared me and my parents a lot of grief that day. Things like that can happen especially with a kid that knows nothing. A spinning mower blade can kill you. Don't let children near a mower unsupervised.

Can't believe the amount of guys commenting. So insecure that they feel the need to brag about being able to pull a freaking rope on an engine when they were only "five years old." Big whoop! Im a country girl with an 800 cc motorcycle, a pickup truck, one chainsaw, a hydraulic wood splitter and a case 210 garden tractor. Can't think to imagine how insecure it makes guys feel when I'm able to swap out a battery or change a set of spark plugs. It's like all of a sudden they wish they were the ones starting up or working on my ride. The minute guys see a girl working on anything that has wheels and an engine, they immediately feel the uncontrollable urge to a butt in and get involved, or brag about how much more they think they know. Like heaven forbid my vehicles are MY business and not theirs. Lol

This is cool! Next time try starting it on the concrete that will make it easier for her to pull because the blade doesn't have to spin through the thick grass.

Have her start it on the sidewalk. All of that grass makes it harder to spin the blade. Regardless, she did an awesome job!
