Did you know that the metaphysis creates growth lines, which are visible by x-ray just like in a tree trunk.
Also if you get seriously ill as a child, or break that bone. The growth lines get denser and less frequent. This signals that the energy normally used for the growth in children, than is used for overcoming the illness of the fracture.
