Michigan State Coaching Candidates to Replace Mel Tucker

Michigan State is looking for a new head coach after Mel Tucker was fired. Which coaches could get in the mix to replace Tucker in East Lansing? How good is the Michigan State job in the Big Ten and nationally?

Will the Spartans pursue proven Power 5 coaches like Lance Leipold, Chris Klieman, Jonathan Smith, PJ Fleck, or Mike Elko? Or will coordinators like Colorado's Sean Lewis end up as the pick?

State is AT BEST, the #8 program in the Big Ten going forward. Michigan, Penn State, Ohio State, USC and Oregon are all, without question, much better jobs. I think you can add Washington and Wisconsin to that list easily. If you said MSU was better than every other Big Ten program (a stretch) that already puts them at #8. You can make arguments that UCLA, Iowa and even Minnesota are better programs right now and going forward for the foreseeable future. MSU has a future full of 8-4 & 7-5 seasons in the best years; 6-6 or 5-7 seasons most years, and then some 4-8 seasons sprinkled in. It is an "upper tier" Big Ten job by salary only. It is no coincidence that MSU's best stretch coincides with Michigan's worst stretch and a down stretch in the Big Ten as a whole. They have nearly zero chance of ever even making the Big Ten championship game with USC, Oregon, Penn State, Michigan and OSU all humming. Not to mention what Washington is doing now and where Chip Kelly/Dante Moore could take UCLA and Fickell could take Wisconsin. Hope Sparty enjoyed the 2010s.

Of the $95 mil, MSU was paying $25 over the ten years. The other $70 mil was coming from the owner of the Suns and another alum. You’re assuming they or other wealthy alums will chip in for the next coach.

MSU coach not better than NE? LOL. — Let’s see MSU has won the Big 10, has several last decade bowl wins and even 2015 went to CFB playoffs - top 4. When did WI do this? When? When DID NE DO THIS? MSU has all the potential to run with the BIG DOGS because they have already run with and beat the BIG DOGS: GA, Baylor, Michigan, PA (Spartans have beat U of M 2/3 times over the last 15 years) —- When did NE and WI do this? LOL

Coach Dantonio faced allot of pressure the last couple of years - including legal case claiming racism that he won. MSU Alumni put allot a pressure to find someone new. He made a bad decision by being over loyalty to his existing coaching staff by rotating their responsibilities, some who really needed to be replaced.

This cast DISCUSSION - you are NOT Spartans, not even Big 10, nor have any pulse for where things are at and need to go for MSU. Go Green and Go White.
