UNIL - EPFL Lausanne Switzerland

UNIL (University of Lausanne) and EPFL (École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne) are two separate but closely located higher education institutions in Lausanne, Switzerland.

UNIL is a public research university that was founded in 1537 and offers a wide range of programs in humanities, social sciences, law, business, and natural sciences. It is known for its strong research programs in fields such as life sciences, neuroscience, and environmental sciences. UNIL has a diverse student body of over 15,000 students, with approximately 30% of its student population coming from outside of Switzerland.

EPFL is a world-renowned public research university that specializes in engineering, natural sciences, computer science, and technology. It was founded in 1969 and has since become one of the top-ranked universities in the world. EPFL has a student body of around 12,000 students, with approximately 50% of its students coming from outside of Switzerland.

Both UNIL and EPFL are located on the shores of Lake Geneva in Lausanne, which is a picturesque city that is often referred to as the "Olympic Capital" due to its long-standing ties to the Olympic movement. The two institutions collaborate on various research projects and offer joint programs, such as the Master in Management, Technology and Entrepreneurship (MTEI) program.
EPFL is one of Europe’s most vibrant and cosmopolitan science and technology institutions.
The Lausanne campus or Dorigny university campus (French: campus lausannois or campus de Dorigny) is a large area in Switzerland where the University of Lausanne (UNIL), the École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) and several other institutions are located. It is in Dorigny, towards the west of Lausanne, on the shores of Lake Geneva. The site is about 2.2 kilometres wide[1] and 31,000 people study and work there.
