William Mathias was a Welsh Composer who was head of Music at Bangor University in the 1970s and 1980s. His life spanned 58 years of music, and received commissions that would get him known to be one of the leading Welsh composers. But, who was the man behind such great music as 'Let the People Praise thee', 'Clarinet Sonatina', and 'Lift Up Your Heads'.
This film explores the life and times of William Mathias, and looks at the man behind the music - taking him from his early years, growing up in Whitland looking at his early musical training, right the way through to his later years, as we see how he kept up his composing while living in Menai Bridge, right to the end, until his unfortunate death in 1992. Interviews include Rhiannon Mathias, John Pickard, Geraint Lewis, John Hywel, Barry Rose, Richard Elfyn Jones, and Sam Jones. Directed and Produced by Daniel Bezkorowajnyj.
