Thank god I just came across this video. I bought a psu with native 12-pin earlier this month for a build I was putting together soon, only 4 days were left on the return period. TY

Thanks for covering this! I've been so F'in confused, so much conflicting information on the Internet. After watching your videos I not only have a good grasp on the situation, but I see where all the confusion is coming from.

Thanks for the information. I was in search of a new atx 3.0 psu and opted for a corsair which was also my previous psu brand. Their included 12VHPWR also seems sturdy and reliable.

Thank you for the vid Ari. Going for the revised Corsair HX1000i that uses the 2x8pin to 12VHPWR cable (included in the revision) and is now formally certified for ATX 3.0.

Honestly this whole saga is so frustrating. I have spent a small fortune on a 4090 FE and a Seasonic Vertex GX 1200. I’m hoping Seasonic will supply the revised cables. I’m assuming that even though my PSU has the native connection on the PSU side, I could still use a new 3.1 connector but coming out of the 8 pin sockets on the PSU? Because it has 5 of those…

I was thinking of getting one with the 12VHPWR, now i will just get the normal one. I have a corsair HX1000i which i feel is kinda okay for a 4090 but looking for some headroom. Thank you for the update and hope they don't change this standard going forward. Cheers.

MSI MPG A1000G ATX 3 pcie5 psu have both 12VHPWR cable and additional 2x PCIE 8 pin skt, so you can use either the 16 pin to 16 pin or 16 pin to 2 x 8 pin. Please check your information.

Showed they were not fully confident with the design to go all in on the changes. Thank you for the further video and info.

Waiting for Seasonic Vertex PX-850. Lets hope it gets released during summer.

Hi, Aris. Thanks for your work, it really helps to navigate through all this technical mess.

Can you please tell me one more time -- why is it best to avoid PSUs with native 12+4 HVPWR sockets, and instead go for 2 x 6+2 sockets instead?

I kinda missed the point.

A PSU that is not 3.1 compliant won’t be saved by just changing the cable. Hardware needs to be changed. Basically Atx 3 psu is now obsolete.

I'm using Seasonic Vertec 1000watt

Hi, you just earned a sub. I’m building a new pc and would like to know what psu 850 or 1000w you recommend to purchase? TIA

I've just bought a Phanteks Revolt Cableless 1000W ATX 3.0 PCIe 5.0 Modular 80 Plus Platinum Power Supply, I ordered their cable kit as well, really nice sleeved cables, I'm using the 12vhpwr cable on the psu end, it is going to my Asus Strix 4080 super which has the new 12v2x6 connector, everything looks plugged in firmly, especially on the psu end, anything I should worry about?

The PSU's that have the 12vhpwr connector have new components inside (for power spikes etc) which make them ATX 3.0 otherwise they are the old design ATX 2.52 without new standard. Feel free to correct me if my understanding is not correct.

Is it fine with the be quiet Straight Power 12? They have a 12vhpwr socket on the psu side but they also have 2 8pin sockets. I guess they did both. would that be alright or is that problematic?

Τhe history repeats once more. When u try to go head to head with new adopted models, sth might go wrong. Unfortunately.
