These days upbeat songs seem to be hard to find. When Phil Wickham came out with Battle Belongs a couple years back my soul did a sigh of thank you Phil!

The worship team I lead worship with attend different churches in our rural area, so we serve in several churches. The challenge I have is selecting songs for each congregation based on their preferences. They are all so different, and we get different responses. Some are conservative in nature, not showing any emotion, and others enjoy raising their hands. On one Sunday it's only me on keys with a vocalist. On the other Sundays it's the whole 5 member band. Seems like I have to have a different library of songs for each church, songs for only the keys, and songs for the whole band, in order to cater to the congregation and to sound good. Quite the challenge. By the way, I love Praise Charts, and also Worship Together.

I have never been a praise band leader but have played in our church praise band for the last few years. Are these 2 sites where you get your backing tracks that you work into Ableton? I have recently been asked to become the band leader for our contemporary service and have been meeting self hesitation but I do have a vision. They have a great sound system and mixer that allows for in-ear, etc. Just looking for some guidance, resources, etc

What do you think about churches that have built a culture where non-typical worship songs are played? I have a church I attend when I am in Knoxville TN. The Point. They do play typical worship songs weekly. But every once and a while they may do a Indie Christian Song, or Folk Christian Music etc. they even may play a secular song that still has a good meaning that can be applied to the church. It is usually given an explanation as to why it is being sung. The Point has created this culture. This church is heavily committed to “Come As You Are” mentality. If you are lost, come, if you are found, come if you are tattooed, come, if you are struggling and broken, come. I believe they use these songs to try and give opportunities to those who are not in Christ to connect with the Church and be more likely to return. Just wondering what you think about this.

Do you consider doctrine and theology of the church you are getting songs from?

I just tried watching the free Worship Leader Training video. Using Firefox, there is no audio. Using Chrome, there is audio but Vimeo would not allow me to skip ahead to the point I was at previously; It just sat there as if loading. Frustrated, I bailed. Maybe put it on Youtube.

I may have missed this, but when you introduce a new song each month, do you intentionally play it every Sunday that month? How long do you feel it takes for the church to learn it?

It would be good if you could name some your current church song favourites?

There are a lot of songs these days that we call christian and when we hear them as christians we fill in the blanks in our heads and we say that is a nice song, but is it ? If a non believer was walking by and heard that song would they say we are worshiping God or would they say that is a secular song ? And with some of the teaching coming out of Bethel I am not to sure if I want to support their music ministry.
