Fuel prices saw a consecutive rise in the month of October. The prices declined in the year 2020, but because India raised taxes, the prices of petrol and diesel went up by 11% and 9% respectively. But this year crude prices have shot up as well and have not been cut: The combination of both means you're now paying record prices. How is that happening? Our expert panel at FYI will decode it for you.

What's the point of having this show when you are not able to give complete information to your viewers? Partial information is worse than not having the information. At least point out some resources where we can get more information.

Some good points by Sanchita. Ultimately crude oil is function of geopolitics. Everybody knows OPEC is a sham. Ultimately the big oil producers from Middle East and Russia decide prices, of course US EU have a role in it, especially US as it is largest consumer. Also US has not always been a very large producer. It has only recently started increased oil production after oil prices started to rise to cover costs. When it is easier and cheaper to import oil why produce oil. And US reserves are unlike Middle east where it is desert and easily accessible. US oil is in Alaska and shale rocks along the coast. Not very easy or cheap to extract. But US does have oil strong influence on oil prices. With the US and World economy opening up there is likelihood that oil prices will continue to rise but going beyond 80-90 looks hard in current scenario. Still its a worry for India.

Poor moderation. Please speak less yourself and give more time to the experts if there is such a hard stop on time.
