I am out on the edge of West Sussex on the Selsey peninsular. This time to have a look at the charming and intriguing chapel at Church Norton, for this church is really not a church at all, but the chancel of an earlier one that was removed.

Martin Snow is, as ever, on hand to give me the extra information and history that I need.

My grandparents lived nearby, when I was a kid, and we used walk through the fields to visit St Winifrids. Such a lovely place, not changed at all.

Lovely little church - very much like the one in Lullington which is only the chancel. It’s good to see that despite it being redundant, it is still well maintained and looked after.

Great episode Richard, I mentioned this chapel to you before having been shown round it by a local young lady I met as a teenager while on holiday at Selsey, a fascinating slice of history. Another peculiar oddity I was shown not far away is what I was told was the smallest pub in England, it was near Goodwood as I recall and was just a small cottage that had had the lounge turned into a public bar, its probably long gone now but it was a strange little bar back in the 60's.

That’s a beautiful little church Richard. You should reserve your spot now to spend eternity.

If only we could go back in time and see the past people and places and feel what it was really like all those centuries ago
