Very nice, would the rudder over to port have a positive effect on the stern moving to starboard?

... very nice ... but I learned BEFORE bow (& stern) thrusters. You need some fenders and a spring-line ...dock at stern to your mid-ship or bow cleat ... the fenders should be hung to prevent the hull from rubbing on the dock ... now slowly go forward w/ the "outboard/non-dockside" engine ... this will pivot the boat so the stern moves away from the dock ... when the stern has spun out enough, slowly back a way ... recover your spring-line and fenders ... and a way you go ... remember do everything as slow as possible ... but as fast as needed due to wind and current influences ...
