Every once in a while I come across a sandwich recipe that could best be described as shooting fish in a barrel. In other words, an easy win. The Ham and Currant Jelly Sandwich from “Salads and Sandwiches” is one of those recipe. It does have an interesting spice addition that, while a little surprising, works really well too.

Those panning camera bits in the beginnings of your vids have been a funny, welcome addition! Yeah, hard to go wrong pairing pork with sweet, the cheese was a great idea that complements the marriage of those ingredients quite well 👍

Ham and fruit, and sandwiches with sweet and savory, are both underappreciated. Are you surprised, Barry, that a Monte Cristo is my favorite sandwich?

It's crazy how currants used to be illegal in the USA! They're so good!

Honestly, it looks delicious. Definitely one of the less surprising ones 😂

YAAAS. You plussed it up exactly the way I wanted you to. Cowboy candy would have been another great addition.

This is now my favorite channel on YouTube. The only thing I don’t like about it is that I didn’t think of it first. You’re awesome Barry! Looking forward to the book!!!

Hey Barry! I have a currant jelly recommendation for you: Tiptree/Wilkin & Sons Cumberland Sauce. Red currant, port, citrus, and spices. It's like a prepared cranberry sauce. Sweet, tangy, with the warmth of mincemeat spices.

I can't plus that up, it's perfect... but toasty cheese is nice!

Nice. Now you are making me want to experiment with red and black current jellies and maybe even a softer, creamier, ripe cheese. I'll end up eating a whole pig and a 12 month jam calendar. Quince and Camembert can't be far off.

Y'know what? I'm about to look up how to make my own ham. I have a chest freezer full of pork shoulder that needs a purpose.

Brie would also be a good plus up for that combo.

The video/book says 1927 but the title says 1917?
