Extended interview: Cardinals' manager Oli Marmol on team's 2-0 win over Reds

Lance Lynn pitched six sparkling innings, and the St. Louis Cardinals beat the Cincinnati Reds 2-0 for a split of their four-game series. Lynn allowed two hits, struck out six and walked one.

Lance knows how to pitch. You don’t need to over throw fast balls and be gassed by the 5th inning. Movement and control is #1. Problems is that pitchers get paid for 97+ mph and that is due to the analytics department guys who really don’t have a clue if it’s not on their computer screen. Managers know this but are forced to listen because if they don’t they will end up like the last Cardinal manager and that is/was a shame. Unfortunately we now have a “yes man”.
