Pulisic, Pepi and Tillman SHOW UP l USMNT Top 10

Christian Pulisic, Malik Tillman and Ricardo Pepi continue to show up in the Champions League for Milan and PSV Eindhoven repsectively, but plenty of other USMNT players are low-key doing well for their clubs, including Mark McKenzie, Antonee Robinson and Tyler Adams.

This month is going to be critical for Pepi. They play Friday, which is their first game of five within 17 days leading into the winter break. I think Pepi's current form, combined with LdJ being rather pedestrian in 77 minutes during which his team scored four goals, means Pepi is primed to get more minutes than LdJ within that stretch. Assuming he continues to outpace LdJ during December, then the plans for the rest of the season should be super clear for Bosz.

Someone said this in chat about Tillman - there are other players that stink for country but nobody ever questions their integrity. Why do we do that to TIllman instead of admitting it's probably a style/compatibility issue?

I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say something that I don’t think has been considered in the Tillman situation. Being that I’ve been to Europe and back several times now I can say that jet lag plays a huge role especially when traveling from Europe to the US. Tillman has been benched before for missing mtgs etc bc of oversleeping at club. He most likely suffers from fatigue due to travel. Not trying to make excuses for a professional footballer but it could be contributing to his usmnt struggles. It is something our players get benched for when they return after international windows so is it that far of a stretch to say it hurts him more during these windows? It will definitely be something he needs to figure out bc we could use his skills like he puts up for psv.

Haven’t seen him much at his club but Tillman must be doing good there because I haven’t seen much from him with the Nats.

Great analysis as usual, Pete. My thoughts: Pepi has surpassed Balogun when we are playing against teams against whom we will dominate the ball. He is the ultimate poacher who always seems to put himself in the right place to score, even against a packed defense. Balogun is better in counter attack. Pulisic is our starting 10 and it will be hard for Gio to push him out. Only one of Tillman and Gio will be on the 2026 WC roster, unless one of them emerges as a winger or Pulisic moves back to the wing.
