Her struggle to say "melodies" is a small detail that makes this scene so much better. She's actively fighting the possession, loses the fight, and proceeds to describe the horrific things she wants to do to her family in perfect coherence. I don't get why this film missed with some people. I personally left the theater extremely pleased.

You can tell they put real hard thought into the specificities of what horror should be like instead of just using the common tropes… they signal the entity trying to take control of her soul but also attempting to conquer her instincts, previous habits and lingual skills to communicate. The entity trying to more effectively move her body which has been dead for a little bit portrayed with cracking and crawling is genius when you think about it.
