It's funny I drive tow truck but worked for a year and a half hauling fuel. We have one customer (A large and well known equipment rental place) that I have turned down like 5 times for moving fuel cube tanks. They are empty containing residue only but require tdg documents, and placards due to the quantity of tanks and empty weight of the vessels. The customer is unable to furnish me with paperwork, so I tell them no. They can't understand why I won't do it, because other drivers do. My licence is more important than their freight.

So as a hazmat driver when u come upon an RR crossing u activate ur four way flashers & when u stop @ a RR crossing why do u roll down both windows when u stop @ an RR crossing? Well when buses stop @ an RR crossing they open their door to listen & check the sound for an approaching train.

Some other tips should cover the possibility of enhanced criminal charges. In at least one state any hazmat violation is a state felony. In many stetes there is no bypass for open dot Wrighstations, i haul all types of hazmat. Except for radioactive and explosives. I refuse radioactive loads to avoid health risks and to avoid hijacks. Explosives because of the increased transportation laws and the increased risks of being hijacked.

I’m curious if you have 2 different hazmat loads..let’s say corrosive & acid..can you just place 1 dangerous placard or do you need to place 1 for each?
