Is RESINCRETE a good alternative to RESIN?

In today's video I am trying out JDiction RESINCRETE. Resincrete is being sold as a resin alternative and in many cases I do see it as a great alternative. This craft was really fun and I highly recommend it if you're interested in doing something like resin but not resin.

**When working with resins make sure you are working in a well ventilated room and be wearing the right PPE. Resin is a chemical and can make you sick if you don't take the right precautions.**

this just looks like someone has rebranded plaster with a clever name so they can sell it at an inflated price, may want to do a comparison between this and plaster to see if there is actually a difference.

I think if there’s any resins in this at all, it’s a negligible amount. This really really seems like plaster under a different and more expensive name.

just my 3¢.... BUT ... Not the first to mention this, but it definitely looks like is plaster!!.... As it has a large amount of plaster to water ratio and ounce mixed the working time is minimal!!... So if it has a higher upcharge and the product is just being renamed ... Just go get plaster I guarantee its way way cheaper!!

So, I’ve used this and the dry and wet stick together very well. However, even if you think you’ve got the color exactly the same, you’re still going to see a bit of a line where the two meet. This won’t be replacing my regular resin anytime soon, but it definitely has its place. It’s a great way to quickly see if you’re homemade molds are any good and for making prototypes.

The beauty of resin is the shine and the transparency. Resincrete has none of that and is hence no alternative at all

Look up Steve McDonald Arts and Crafts. He has some good videos on Resincrete and combining it and resin together. He also explains that it takes 24 hours (I think) for the resincrete to fully harden so you have to be careful until then.

Looks very much like plaster moreso than clear resin. Even the leaf tips that broke off reminds me of working with plaster. But I imagine it's a lot pricier. How would you compare the feel of it to regular plaster? Thanks for the video!

It seems like plaster but has been renamed so it appears at first look that its a new product when its not.

This looks like “faster plaster” a craft I did back in 90’s. Not that it’s a bad thing but certainly not a replacement for resin in any way at all!! Thanks for doing this video so we could see before buying!

Hands down one of the best comment sections I've ever seen. Everyone seems so interested in the content it almost feels like a big group project if that makes sense definitely subbing

This looks very much like Crystalcal R, an extremely hard casting plaster. You can get a 25kg bag for less than £40 in the UK

To get molds back to shape use warm water. And to stretch working time of mix use ice cold water. Helps slow set off time.

I really like how these look!! Never heard of this product. Looks like people are commenting that it's just plaster but I never thought to use that in molds.... so I learned a couple things from this video. Thanks!! 😊

I use Rockite, and it looks like it gives similar results. Doesn't take well to pigment though. The strawberry mold it so cute!

Can you possibly set the white coaster in sunlight for a week and do a side by side photo and see if it has yellowed at all?

It’d be great to cast that hexagon in resin to have one of each, then start drop testing them onto concrete at increasing heights to compare breakability. I’m guessing the Resincrete would break by three feet up and that resin might make it to six.
