Introduction to Parallel Programming​ (HPC in Julia 5/10)

MPAGS: High Performance Computing in Julia

In this lecture we talk about trends in microprocessors and why we actually need to think about parallel programming. We give some theoretical understand of what can and cannot be easily parallelised and the limits thereof. We touch on a simple Monte Carlo map-reduce algorithm for computing pi. This example will be finished in session 6.
