In the Monty Hall problem. You are correct about the odds being better if you switched. However, you did not use the Monty Hall problem as your example. MH is dependent on the host opening a door not selected by the contestant. Since 1/3 of us are eliminated by the fact that you as host opened up door 2, the odds become 50/50 for the rest.

This most certainly isn't an example of the Monty Hall problem. In the Monty Hall problem, the host will never reveal the door that the player initially chose. That means that whenever the player makes a wrong initial choice (there are 3 doors, so 2/3 of the times), switching would be ideal after the other wrong door was revealed. In this video, however that wasn't the case, since door 2 was revealed regardless of the initial choice. In this case, there actually is a 50% chance of sticking with your choice, if you chose door 1 or 3 - since if you chose door 2, then you just got screwed. Basically, there are only 2 choices from the very beginning, since door 2 doesn't matter, instead of the 3 options there should be in the Monty Hall problem.
