DIY #7 | Floating Entryway Shelf with Drawer

Показать описание
Hi, this time I made a floating entryway shelf for my friend's house.
And here are some thoughts after this project.
I had done waterfall miter joints with a table saw when I made my desk, but in this video, I tried another way to make hidden miter joints with a router. Although it needed time to set up, it worked great. (thanks to the wood whisperer)
When I glued up the miter joints, I used sacrificial blocks for clamping (clamping cauls? blocks?). In the video I saw, they removed the clamping blocks with a chisel and hammer. I followed them and... the block pulled out wood fibers. I had to use my hand saw and then remove the remains with a chisel a little by little. If you use this clamping method on Oak, I do not recommend hammering clamping blocks to remove them.
Instead of buying a mounting bracket, I made it out of plywood with dowels, and it was much sturdier than I thought. I will definitely use the dowel method again when I need to make more floating brackets.
Thank you for watching. See you soon!
