Drop your book recommendations below! The FIRST FIVE with the most upvotes will be put into a poll to be voted on. If your book didn't get picked last time, feel free to submit it again.

EDIT: You guys have so many great suggestions, I'll probably do two polls, then a final third poll with the two highest votes, or I'll read both if I have time.

I only found out about Tarantino's book because Elmore Leonard's son promoted it. Tarantino is of course heavily influenced Leonard so it kind of tracks.

Anyway, recommending The Imago Sequence and other stories by Laird Barron. Good ol' modern weird fiction horror). Barron scratches that Ellroy/Winslow/McCarthy style of blending pulp and literary fiction in writing that I love but in horror. It's a short story collection of his earlier work and unlike a lot of weird fiction writers, his doesn't go the nihilism route because how big a shadow Lovecraft casted on the genre but has a nice fatalism vs determinism tint in the stories.

My recommendation is Psycho 2 by Robert Bloch. A worthy sequel that doesn’t get much love and was completely ignored when Hollywood made the movie sequel, for obvious reasons when you read it.
Nice mention of Hell Hound there. I’m looking forward to reading that one after you helped me find it.

Glad to see you're back Jason, and that you enjoyed Sweden. You don't look too bad for someone who's just come back from abroad. Also that's cool about the science fiction store out there in Stolkholm...I'll have to check that out if I ever go out there!

My vote will be The Drop from Dennis Lehane. I know you've been asking me on where to start with him, and it's hard to say because he's a pretty accessible author for the most part. But The Drop is a really damn good and succinct title from him, also was turned into a criminally underrated film with Tom Hardy and the late, great James Gandolfini. In other words, a good place to dip your toes.

I could rabble about Citizen Kane, but I'm too tired today. Great video nonetheless.

My book recommendation is the field. And yes, I know it's yours but I'd like to hear your thoughts on how you feel about it after all this time.

It Ends with Us by Colleen Hoover - not read it but the movie is coming out. Maybe it’s a good ‘Un! Gotta be better than fourth wing?!
And welcome back! Glad you had a nice trip!

Yeah, if you didn't like The Invincible, I would say you probably won't like anything else by Lem. Solaris is one of the flattest, most unengaging sci-fi novels I've ever read. But yeah, I'm itching to hear your thoughts on the Tarantino book. :D Even though I don't think the movie is his best, I preferred it to the print adaptation because it felt better structured, what with the explosive finale that's weirdly glossed over in the book. And of course the writing was...something. XD And oh yeah, my vote for your next undecided read is gonna be Cum for Bigfoot, by Virginia Wade. ;P

Lamb sounds interesting, staying tuned for your complete thoughts. 👀

The Broken Sword is good but not better than Lord of the Rings imo, nowhere even close in terms of writing alone, forget worldbuilding. 😎😁 Let's see what you think.

My "rec" is Roadside Picnic by Arkady and Boris Strugatsky. I say "rec" because its on my June tbr and seems full of potential but I havent actually read it... 🤓

"Small Mercies" by Dennis Lehane. As a counter proposal to @someokiedude9549's. I heard it's his most appreciated book to date. I'm still looking for something at least on par to Shutter Island, maybe it's this one?
