The BJP and local parties are in the driving seat across the eight northeastern states of India in the Lok Sabha elections, the India Today-Axis My India exit poll results showed on Saturday.

The eight northeastern states, which include-- Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Tripura, Manipur, Nagaland, Mizoram, and Assam-- have a tally of 27 seats in the Lok Sabha.

The India Today-Axis My India exit poll is based on 5.8 lakh interviews conducted in all 543 parliamentary constituencies

It shall be much more challenging now onwards for any PM to manage smoothly. PM shall need support of alliance and hence, decision making shall be quite tougher. The candidates like Nitish, Chandra Babu etc, shall be always under doubts to sustain their loyalty towards BJP. Opposition shall do try its best to attract both to join India alliance. All parties need to introspect and need to redesign their strategies to remain in power for long. Within BJP also challenges may emerge to unanimously agree for a PM.
