My ex-gf was an alpha, strong independent type. All the arguing, nitpicking, stonewalling, and struggling for power got exhausting. She’s a great regional ops manager for her company; not so great at being a girlfriend.

As an alpha female of 31 years old (who has currently 2 successful businesses and has 2 more in the making). I realized over the years that I get along better with a beta man because I usually match the energy of the other (and I love a stress-free one). I realized I can be super sweet/calm/loving/caring aka myself with someone who is the same with me (usually a beta man). But I tend to feel competitive if I go on a date with an alpha man.. and this my friend, is toxic. I don't want to be or to feel controlled/dominated ever. I go into protective/warrior mode if I date someone who wants to treat me as an object or put me in a submissive position. I can't tolerate that. My issue with this whole dynamic though is that I dislike being way more successful than my partner (who is often beta). The conclusion to this situation is: people (all genders) should adapt their level of "control" for when they do business vs when they are with their partner. What do you think?

What he’s describing is not an “alpha female”. What he’s describing is a character flaw and a personality clash. A woman can be an alpha without barking orders and challenging everything another person does.

Currently struggling through this right now. I don't mind if she goes and kicks ass at work and moves up and makes her money. I'm happy for her in that aspect. But then she comes home and nothing I do is to her liking. An example is if I wash the dishes and I just so happen to have not rinsed a single dish thoroughly enough and it has a couple soap spots on it, I hear about it. Everything has to be done the second she requests, an example would be I'll be doing something and she'll ask me to get something from the car, I tell her to wait a couple minutes til I'm done. She then proceeds to huff and go get it anyways. Then I'm left feeling like a worthless asshole because I made her do it. At least that's how she makes it seem. We literally can't even go to the grocery store together because every time it turns into an argument for no reason at all. She DEFINITELY is a backseat driver whenever we go somewhere. If I happen to choose to take a different route from what she was expecting it's "you were supposed to turn there", "where are you going", "it'd be easier to have went that way", etc. If I'm in an unfamiliar place driving and she knows the area, I have no trouble asking what the best way is. But it gets under my skin when it's an area I know like the back of my hand. Half the time I want her to just drive so I don't have to listen to it. We recently got into a big argument where she knew the next day she really fucked up because it was over nothing important and I really put her on the spot when it came to the way she treats me and her attitude. I told her that that wasn't happening again and that I was tired of it and gave a laundry list of examples of shit she has done that either pissed me off or made me feel like shit. It's honestly like being with another dude that just so happens to have a female body. We butt heads almost every day about something and it's just exhausting.

I have dated so many but only met 2 unicorns. seeing one alpha as well but not so much enthusiasm so I stop hanging out. Those are challenge and you should date even if it doesnt work out. Explore that cave, my man!
