Wine is an important part of Hungarian culture. Red and White wines are excellent and they can be paired very well with some of the Hungarian dishes. We discover some wonderful wine producing regions like Villány thats famous for their Cabarnet Frank, or Tokaj where the world famous Tokaji Aszú is being produced, but we also have look at Balaton where excellent White Wines are produced, we learn about historic places like Eger where the famous Bulls Blood Cuvee is made (called Bikavér in Hungarian).

When we go back to Hungary to visit my wife's relatives, I have a hard time watching them water down really great Hungarian wines with seltzer water. But you are right, its not too bad on a hot day. I like white wines so Badacsony is my favorite with Tokaj second. One of my wifes cousins went to seminary at Pannonhalma so we always seem to drink of lot wine from there when we visit, and it is excellent!

We were in Hungary last summer and had excellent white wine in Mór region. Their specialty there is Ezerjo. Worth to try.

I have tried Tokaj a couple of times, great with dessert. When my friend Szabi used to go back home to Hungary, I used to get him to bring back the Bull's Blood, really enjoyed it. I can see from your video I have many fun times ahead exploring all these great wines.

Finally some attention for the great wines Hungary provides! But also a missed opportunity to tell the world about one of the best wine festivals I ever visited: The Budapest Borfesztival at the Buda castle. We visited it last September and we were blown away. Will you highlight this in the future?
Thanks for all your great tips, it added a lot of value!

I've watched like 80% of your videos before going to Budapest last December. 😂
Very entertaining and informative, and being a foodie I especially enjoy your foods and drinks videos.
I'm very much into wine and during my stay I tried to experience a decent amount of hungarian wines. I think a video about wine bars (or stores included even) would be a great follow-up to this. Personally, Kadarka was booming and we had a great time, as well as Champion Wine for a more intimate tasting/buying. Keep up the great work!

Very informative video! A smaller wine region with some good wines is the Neszmély area.

Akós, do you happen to know where Törley sources its grapes nowadays if not from the Buda hills?

When I visit Hungary next time, I would like to try them from different regions. I don't know much about wine but it will give me good idea for gift for friends. By the way, recently I have heard about interesting Hungarian culture, Name Day. Do many Hungarians celebrate it? And when is the name day for Ákos?

Last summer I went and bought some wines at a Borkereskedés on Dohány u. Picked up a olaszrizling and a chardonnay. Both were fantastic. On top of that I got a bulls blood, I believe it was from Eger. And last but not least a I got an Aszú. And don't get me wrong I loved the Aszú, but I struggled to taste the difference between that and let's say a late harvest wine or an Eiswein. Please don't ban me :P Only sad thing was that the store I shopped at, wouldn't ship some wines back to my hometown in Denmark.

Köszödöm. I really like the content of this channel. In this specific vlog, I knew some regions, but some I didn't . Is the Pècs wine region also good, like Villany ? Or is it very different? Do you maybe know if the wine region around Vörösmart (Zmajevac] in the since (1920) Croation Baranya is simulair to the Villany region? I will be in those three regions in two months

Szia Ákos: Nagyon informatív videó köszönöm. Van egy pár kérdésem is. Ezek a borok az élelmiszerboltokban kaphatók vagy csak a pincészetekben ? Melyik a kedvenc vörös-fehér borod a csokorból ? Utolsó kérdés.Vettél egy új fényképezőgépet ? Mert a beltéri stúdiófelvételek tisztábbak mint a 4k vagy 8k minőségű Okos Tv? Szuperül néz ki szerintem...
