The Ascent: A Brief History of the Brain

A brief history of the brain, featuring a few of the major scientists and findings that have contributed to modern neuroscience.

The objectives of this video include:
1) Providing a broad overview of the history of our knowledge of the brain;
2) Providing an overview of how technical and conceptual advances led to new insights;
3) Revealing the human side of neuroscience through quotations from key individuals on the nature of the brain and consciousness;
4) Providing inspiration and challenge to the next generation of neuroscientists;

More recent findings, which are important for a comprehensive knowledge of neuroscience history, are left off for now for future exploration. The history of neuroscience is obviously very rich and there's no way to pack it into a short video. So, I chose a few key players and tried for a bit of inspiration in the balance.
