Based on the famous Julia Quinn romance novels, Netflix and Shondaland’s Bridgerton and its spin-off, Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, have made quite the buzz and generated a solid fanbase globally. Set in the Regency Era, the plot follows the trials and tribulations of the higher classes, who gravitate around their queen and risk the disapproval of the ton with their scandalous actions.

The franchise’s success is mostly due to the insanely charismatic cast, the main couples' steamy scenes, the stunning costumes and lavish balls, and the neoclassical take on contemporary pop music. How do the actors feel about starring on this hit show? Here are their candid reactions behind the scenes.

Bridgerton seems like a soap opera in presentism, not for history seekers.

You found a guy with a very similar voice to the OG narrator, all that is missing is the mid Atlantic accent and the snarky tone/ witty humor

While we can fantasize about certain eras, I’d still like for them to be closer to FACTS during time periods …. Even if it is indeed fiction. I’m a Black woman and I still appreciate “time period” shows and movies. I don’t have to be “included” in order to “appreciate” the time periods in which we were NOT included. Maybe it’s good in a way, that if we had been accepted during those times, it might have looked like this. I haven’t watched the show, but I might give it a go. Like I said, while it’s fiction, I still like for these eras written about to be closer to facts surrounding these eras. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Bridgerton: come for the glittering parties and cute butts, stay for the ice cream dates and secret scandals.

If you are searching for historical accuracy, bridgerton is not the right place. From the characters, to the systems in the world, down to how the characters dress, none of it is accurate and it's not supposed to be.

People that like the show and are fans of it, like it for either the romance or the drama. The historical elements are just there because it's a cute aesthetic, nothing else.

Bridgerton is a DEI casting. Change my mind

Aristocracy didn't stoop to marry gentry most of the time, unless there was a lot of money involved. Also during this time, the paler you were, the more beautiful you were considered.

This is a fun story I'm sure, but not truly representative of Regency England.

In other words, it's like a "play era" version - like Gunsmoke and Bonanza were to the 60s adaptation of the "old West"; where blue eyeshadow and Carnaby Street colors were readily available! Haha!

Anyone that expects something on Netflix to be accurate, needs to come to Texas to buy my cottage in the Alps, it's just north of Dallas.

Love the narrator. You have the two best on YouTube.

This probably would've been on abc if shonda had gotten an extra Disneyland ticket from an executive

I've always found Regency clothing much more interesting than Victorian clothing.

Historical inaccuracy only matters to those who know history. Very few people under 40 were educated in British history and literature to the same extent previous generations were. I find it best to consume historical material and literature in the original written form or 20th century documentary form - Jane Austen is at it's best when read with a cup of tea!

This announcer is quite wrong. London was almost entirely white and homogeneous until the migration booms of the latter twentieth century. By estimation London was about .1 percent non-white during the 19th century.

Well if you don't mind French court dress being used for British regency court dress. To be fair, court dress of the time was pretty ridiculous.

In real Bridgerton, there were considerable less black people than in the show. Goes pretty much with any other modern day historical drama.

People really don’t read disclaimers before films. And people clearly can’t differentiate truth from fiction. Bridgerton is NOT the place to learn about your history. That’s for documentaries and your High school history class. This show is for entertainment and it does touch on historical events a bit. It can be really insightful for younger people who may have a harder time learning about this time period so they may be able to draw parallels for sure. EVERYBODY KNOWS that the ethnicities of the characters are NOT the same as the real people. Pick up a book, this huge time period is def NOT going to be erased from textbooks or whatever so idk what y’all are pissing abt. It is not sugarcoating shit however just offering pure entertainment with a hint of history behind it. THERE ARE LOADS OF OTHER SHOWS AND MOVIES YOU CAN WATCH IF YOU DO NOT LIKE THIS OR THINK ITS “historically inaccurate”. Stfu

So much was changed from the books I feel they really veered off into less than historically accurate version of the story. It gives historical romance a bad name. I gained my love of history by reading well researched historical romance. It taught me history with an accompanying romantic plot. Much more interesting than dry textbooks. Now, I have the internet and knowledge in any form that I want at my fingertips. I still read romance but only a handful of authors that I have followed since the 1980s.✌🏻

I watched Bridgerton but found it to be woke and unrealistic of the era they focused more on gay and diversity inclusion than historical facts and once again ruined what could have been a great series😮😮
