I was 4 years old when I discovered Ultra Man in 1969, LOVED IT!! Totally blew my mind.
When I started Kindergarten I was so exited to have my Ultra Man lunch box in tow.

Man, I love these old tv shows and movies. This kind of quality wouldn’t fly in today’s world, but because it’s from so long ago, it feels classic and original.

Im 32 and i watched those Kaiju movies in a Hospital in the late 90s visiting my grand father with my dad when he had cancer. Me and my brothers where sitting in a children's room and those movies have been played there together with early 90s Anime like Sailor moon, Ranma and Pokemon.

Like other commenters, I saw this when I was 4 or 5 in the 60's, one of the first things I ever absorbed from TV, and it stuck with me throughout my childhood. I always thought his powers were awesome, especially the beams and that electrical saw blade he'd fire. I'm assuming this is the final episode, although it's missing a scene I vividly remember, where Ultraman's prone body rises up, then starts spinning end over end until either a sphere was formed, or he entered it. Then another Ultraman appears to save him and take him home. I always figured that was his father. I remember being sad that he appeared to be defeated and probably wouldn't be coming back (except in reruns ;-). I was also blown away that the series had an actual ending, and for years would think that shows like Star Trek also must have had one, so whenever they'd be in a tight spot I'd wonder if it was the last series episode. I finally realized that other shows didn't have conclusions like that.
I only recently rediscovered another show that I had seen around the same age and never knew what it was when I got older. Captain Scarlett! The opening with the foot steps and the gunshot was so spooky as a kid. And like Ultraman, it was this bizarre hyper-real world that even then I knew wasn't real, but found so fascinating. What a resource Youtube has become for re-discovering memories. Thanks so much for posting this!

I love the sound design for this fight; none of the by-now iconic themes, just silence as Zetton's beeps and boops overpower the soundscape just as Ultraman himself is overpowered.

It’s amazing how much better was the Ultraman mask at the end of the series compared to the beginning. Much smoother and more symmetrical.

正義のヒーローが負けるという設定自体が今見ても驚きです。
