'Who's Edward and why should I care what he said?'
'Edward said it before Simon got the chance...'
'But Edward said he didn't say what he said was what he meant to say..'

There, got that off my chest.

The tradition in Italy is very strong - I would recommend reading Paolo Trovatos book on Lachmann's method. Very good

Where real philologists would disagree is in the text of, "Hellish, hot nights" in Southern Europe compared to the cold Winter's nights of Northern Europe.
Philology is philosophy here. Understanding semantics of text per geography.
Philology proper and Comparative Philology wouldn't make the mistake of the chocolate frog.

Enjoyed the video...any comments on Nietzsche. He held a Ph.D. on the subject as did JR Tolkien.
