Do you guys think new MPC‘s are coming? If so, what features do you want to come?

They’re in the finishing stages of an MPC in full collaboration with native instruments

I believe they’re going to build a Pro line. BEING A PRO X and a LIVE PRO . Better AD/DA conversion, More ram and SSD since they’ve linked up with NI those plugins eat up all the memory if you open 2-4 sounds. They can also build a KEY37 PRO with an internal battery, space for a SSD etc, but why would they kill the sales of one of their main products? So since they’ve lowered the price on those 2 most likely the LIVE and X will be getting revamped

For those who may be interested.

The Akai MPC Live II is not officially "discontinued" by Akai Professional at the moment, though there are strong rumors and signs from retailers that it is no longer being produced. Akai has not made a public statement about its discontinuation, but stock is drying up at many major retailers.

Now, regarding Native Instruments (NI) integration:

* Native Instruments integration is a core feature of the upcoming MPC 3.0 software. Akai and Native Instruments have partnered to integrate NI's powerful sounds and tools directly into the MPC platform.

* The MPC Live II is fully compatible with MPC 3.0. Akai has explicitly stated that MPC 3.0 will be a free update for all current standalone MPC hardware, which includes the MPC Live II. This means the MPC Live II will benefit from the Native Instruments integration features when MPC 3.0 is officially released (public beta in May 2025, full release expected later).

* What this means for the Live II: When MPC 3.0 arrives, the MPC Live II will gain the ability to:

* Load and play Native Instruments Play Series plugins (though you may need to purchase them separately from NI for the MPC).

* Utilize Native Instruments Expansions within the MPC environment.

So, even if the MPC Live II were to be officially discontinued in the near future (which is highly speculated), it is still part of the current generation of MPCs that Akai is supporting with the significant MPC 3.0 update, including the new Native Instruments integration.

As of May 21, 2025, the latest firmware update for the Akai MPC One+ (and other current MPC standalone hardware like the MPC Live II, MPC X SE, MPC Key 37, MPC Key 61, MPC One, MPC Live, and MPC X) is MPC OS 3.4.3.
This update was released recently and includes various bug fixes, improvements, and functionality enhancements, such as improved Wi-Fi connectivity and the return of Splice in the browser shortcuts.
You can typically find the latest firmware and download instructions on the official Akai Pro website under their support or downloads section for the MPC series. You can also often update directly on your MPC if it's connected to Wi-Fi.

Two weeks ago Akai was not saying this

If this is true it makes sense because Akai is going strong with the development of the MPC 3.0 software.

Also why put money into a new MPC when the MPC Live 2 is compatible with all the current MPC models ( especially the One +).

The Akai MPC Live II will continue to receive updates, especially with the ongoing development of the MPC 3.0 software.
Here's why:

* MPC 3.0 Compatibility: Akai has explicitly stated that MPC 3.0 is a free update for the MPC Live II (as well as the original MPC Live, MPC One, MPC One+, MPC X, MPC X SE, MPC Key 37, and MPC Key 61). This means the Live II is part of the current generation of MPC hardware that Akai is actively supporting with its latest operating system.

* Recent Firmware Updates: Akai regularly releases firmware updates for its standalone MPC line, including the Live II, to fix bugs, improve performance, and add new features. For example, MPC OS 3.4.2 was recently released and is compatible with the MPC Live II.

* Long-Term Support: Akai has a history of providing long-term software support for its flagship MPC hardware. The MPC Live, released in 2017, has received updates for many years, and the Live II, being a more recent iteration, is expected to receive similar longevity of support.
While Akai's focus is currently on the MPC 3.0 software and enhancing the current hardware, the MPC Live II is a core part of that ecosystem and will benefit from all future software developments and bug fixes.

The MPC X SE will continue to receive firmware updates.

The Akai MPC X Special Edition (SE) is one of Akai's flagship standalone MPC units, and it is fully supported and will continue to receive the latest firmware updates.
Here's why:

* Part of the Current Generation: The MPC X SE was released relatively recently (April 2023) and is considered a premium device within Akai's current MPC lineup.

* MPC 3.0 Compatibility: Akai has confirmed that the MPC 3.0 software (which is a massive overhaul of the MPC OS, including features like a linear arranger, enhanced Main Mode, and Native Instruments integration) is a free update for all current standalone MPC hardware, including the MPC X SE. This demonstrates a clear commitment to long-term software support for this model.

* Ongoing Updates: Akai regularly releases firmware updates (like the recent MPC OS 3.4.3) that address bugs, improve performance, and introduce new features across its entire current standalone MPC range, and the MPC X SE is consistently included in these updates.

You can be confident that your MPC X SE will continue to benefit from Akai's ongoing software development and receive the latest features and improvements

I hope they come with a new Akai MPC Key 61, with a larger screen and normal size MPC pads, and more power inside

Variation to the key 37 I feel is coming too. All the other MPC models has several variations, the key 37 is next in line

i’m hoping also though like eh E-A-Ski says .. put some converters on that piece! You know what I’m saying? Make it sound good!! All the computer stuff is a dope but… I agree with Ski on that. But yeah dude I’ve been looking. I’ve been watching. You’re absolutely right something’s coming.!! Yay 😁

Bro your predictions has this (I know this is coming for sure but I'm not saying for sure) vibe to it. At the same it definitely makes allot of sense. Price drops always screams new products arriving soon. With that said, I feel like NI is not too far away from this due to the new collaboration.

I was going to buy an MPC, but imma sit on my bread and wait to see what they drop. If they are dropping prices now, It’s not crazy to think they will release new hardware this year.

I’m willing to BET (and I’m not a betting man) But I believe they are getting out last inventory of separate Hardware units so Native Instruments & Akai finally confirms implementing best of both worlds via THE BUYOUT! Just like the iZotope, Plugin Alliance & etc takeover by NI! 😁😉 #ThatsMyWord

They need to make Ram upgradable up to 64 gb. I9. VST 3 on the Live3…. Mouse pointer for editing….fyi… the roll works on a mouse currently…..

Universal compatibility with vst plugins would be dope

They're going to do whatever that helps them compete with DAWS. The best thing to do is up the ssd and ram size which would allow for bigger sample libraries and create their own Wavetable synth that competes with Serum, Massive X, Pigments and whatever wavetable synth producers are using. Make the MPC a laptop with knobs and pads.

As AI becomes more ubiquitous in music production, the MPC stands out because you can see people playing on it, that is so important in the "show the work" side of production and will be even more vital as an instrument going forward as a performance tool.

They will probably release something with video out so that we can use external screens. Network file sharing.

I'd be excited if they released a new MPC Live 3 with redesigned MPE pads. Playing the current pads with synth sounds isn't that nice compared to the Push 3. More buttons would also make sense, minimally Solo, Mute, track select, and maybe some general arrow, back and 'previous screen' buttons to aid navigation. And of course, upgraded RAM is a given.

I wish they made the UI more button friendly in general so you could avoid the touch screen for the most part. It's good for certain things like selecting the parameter to twist, but I hate the soft button-only design.

Though considering the crazy times we're currently in, I wonder what the price would be for an MPC Live 3. 🤷

New software update = new mpc that actually work 100% with the new update is my take.!

The biggest question is how much more will they have to price these units than originally planned because of the tariffs.
