the lyrics changing from "she fell in love in the summer" to "she made up her mind after summer" and "she believed someone loved her" to "she believed no one loved her" completely shattered my heart. the lyrics hit a little closer to home. feeling unlovable and feeling like no one cares now and no one will ever care even if I'm gone is the worst thing ever. as someone who's struggling with depression, songs that talk about topics I can relate to help me a little. songs have become sort of a lifeline for me and I adore omar's music so much. it's so heartbreaking because not only can i hear but i can feel the song. being able to relate to the lyrics so much is devastating but it does give me some solace that we get to talk about something so heavy.

personally for me this is something that's often avoided, the household i come from rarely ever talks about the importance of mental health. depression is considered as something taboo and struggles often go unnoticed or they are simply dismissed. most of the time you do not notice the amount of pressure someone's carrying on their shoulders until they get crushed by the weight of it and it's too late. if any of you who are reading this are in the same situation as me I hope you'll never feel ashamed or afraid to ask for help whenever you need. you've made it so far and I believe you'll survive even though things might feel hopeless now. you are strong! and no matter how sad or tired or exhausted you feel, know that this will pass, you will survive❤

2:10, the silence, the raw vocals??
the melody is hauntingly beautiful and it is also incredibly comforting. the bridge hits so freaking hard, the pain in his voice is so palpable. do I even need to talk about how mesmerizing the music video is and how ethereal and angelic omar is?? his expressions??? i mean we know he's an actor but omar, no need to make me cry so much😭 i could watch him and listen to his gorgeous voice for hours! love love love everything about this song! gonna have this on repeat its too good. I'm sure I'll always come back here when things get a little too unbearable. hopefully I'll be able to find some peace within this beautiful song, in his soothing voice! you're amazing, thank you for everything omar!❤

The lyrics made me tear up tbh, this song is so good yet so relatable, and I think its one of Omars best songs, not only of the vocals that are INCREDIBLE, his voice, the lyrics ARE ALL SO AMAZING STOP. This is the one song that really speaks to me. This one line 'Cause life was just a dance and she believed No one loved her”, is something I’ve been going through since my last relationship back in 2011. I want to be loved by someone but what’s the use if that someone will just end up hurting you? I’ve always thought of myself as just a a number for the population. That I’m not actually right for someone. That I’m just unwanted, unneeded and unlovable. I try every morning to wake up with a positive attitude, but it gets hard every passing hour to keep a smile on my face. Music is my happy place but sometimes it doesn’t help. Maybe this song will. This song really hits home with me

Other than relating to the lyrics of this song, it also reminds me of my friend who's named 'Summer'. She's my very very best friend, literally my closest. She became my classmate when I was in 11th grade and I regret not being friends with her then. We only became super close when we got to grade 12 and it sucks that we only had a year to be together. Now we're entering our college year and I know we'll still see each other but, it doesn't feel the same as sitting right next to each other and just being there for each other physically. It hurts that we'd have less time together. That's why I can't help but be sad when I hear this song. It's like singing her name and remembering her and our memories. It's another kind of pain that only adds to the pain and sadness of the song and it's meaning.

+++ love how Omar's other songs that are really vibey and party-like can make you dance and be wild and that songs like these, the ballad ones, can make you cry and just feel so sad.
