TF2: Does 4:3 Stretched Resolution MAKE YOU BETTER?

Well...Stretched res has less fov so they will go across the screen faster. I might be wrong tho

4:3 can help you see people’s head hitbox clearly since they are stretched out. It may be the same to aim but the focus can be beneficial

The speed they get is nothing compare to the thiccness of each class :)

I actually play on a native 4:3 monitor, here's what I've found:

It works like a dream for older games, seems obvious. However it's that screen that the original was designed for, meaning you don't get random moments where the game feels unfair or too easy. (Mostly applies to singleplayer titles like DX and SWB2)

The natual FOV for games is actually somewhat higher, with (albiet slight) higher vision ranges to seemingly to compensate, for the lack side screen.

Lastly, playing it shows how much that stretched view actually causes destractions as your eyes end up having to move more frantically, causing you to miss things. I've noticed I see enemies a lot more when I play on an actual 4:3 conpaired to 16:9.

its about feeling, you can try whatever that makes you feel comfortable
not recommend 4x3 for med mains cause losing fov makes it harder to guard bombing

You can benefit from 4:3 stretched res if you have fast reaction time, cuz the models move faster.

I prefer 4:3 with black bars ngl, i don’t like how you technically swipe faster horizontally (x and y axis isn’t equal). Oh yeah and the fps good is great

If you have a slow computer, 4:3 is a must

I tried it out and it was amazing. I hit more meat shots as scout and had a good fps boost that made gameplay silky smooth

Just play on a CRT and decrease latency even further! Most pc CRT monitors can display higher hz refresh rates at lower display resolutions too. It should be pretty easy to find one that can at least handle 75hz or so.

i have this habit of doing weird wide flicks so having the screen wider did help me out a lot. two cases were projectile classes and also sniper for some reason. i was happy to hit more airshots as soldier and demo but i was also happy to do better on sniper for whatever reason who i main the least. in the end, if you get used to it and don't mind having the game look weird, stretched does help you look at aiming a lot differently.

Laptop player here, my 4:3 res is usually good enough for me (since the game looks garbage with the igpu anyway), but i stick to 16:9 because... uh... idek 😅
