Jayne Mansfield - The Girl Can´t Help It (1956)

Der 1956 von Frank Tashlin gedrehte Film "The Girl Can´t Help It", erlangte vor allem durch die Auftritte zahlreicher Schlagerstars wie Little Richard, Julie London, Gene Vincent, Eddie Cochran, und Fats Domino Kultstatus und bescherte darüber hinaus Jayne Mansfield ihren ersten großen Kinoerfolg.
Die Szene zu Beginn des Videos, in der Jayne Mansfield im enganliegenden Kleid und großen Hut eine Straße entlang geht und durch ihre bloße Erscheinung Eisblöcke zum Schmelzen oder Milch zum Überkochen bringt, gehört zu den berühmtesten Szenen der Filmgeschichte.
Die Kritiken waren überwiegend positiv und auch im deutschsprachigen Raum kam die Musikkomödie unter dem Titel "Schlagerpiraten" sehr gut an. Die amüsanteste Bemerkung zum Film gab der "Der Spiegel" in seiner Ausgabe Nr. 12 vom 29. März 1957 zum Besten:
„Die Fox stellt mit Jayne Mansfield ihren Marilyn-Monroe-Ersatz vor, und im Vergleich mit dem byzantinischen Formenreichtum der Mansfield schrumpft das Vorbild zu einer dürren Audrey-Hepburn-Erscheinung zusammen."
