I use exactly the same way. Bass, mids, highs. This is why it's so important to learn mixing with up faders as well, not only cross fader.

That's fast! Lol! You can sit in those grooves for long times when they're harmonic and hold some of the vocal or beat elements from the previous track. Makes it even more seamless.

This is how i like to mix. Not that big into FX except using the filter and echo out...and stems! As far as bringing in the volume of the next track, i nudge the fader up a little once every four count so incremental volume changes will happen with changes in the track already playing. That comes from mixing vinyl back in the 80s and 90s. Phil, thanks for all your hard work!!!

Never understood why some djs play about with the mid and high in every mix, there is simply no need!! This is exactly what the prefader does but in equal measures Its a waste of time that stops your hands being able to do other things in the mix!

I go even slower than that. Sometimes i love to hear to house songs playing together before i mix out. I love the hard hitting beat.

See I come from a time when ya had to beat match by ear and I took pride in dropping the next track habitually with less than 15 seconds from taking the last one out of the mix. Scratch and drop it in by memory where you think BPM is close, cut over the second you know whether it's fast or slow, even if it's not noticeable to most ppl yet.

Fine tune. scratch and drop back in, fine tune while continuing to cut back and forth highlighting the track separation. Kill the treble on one side and the bass on the other when ya cut for a neat affect. Or hi and low on same side.

This technique works to beat match with no headphones once ya practice enough. (No cue points, no sync buttons or quant.) Scratching helps a lot, even simple baby scratches can give you an idea for how to adjust the BPM to get hella close.

Your style is polar opposite, but a lot of DJs mix like that, and there's pride to be taken in a super smooth mix. It works. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🖕🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

When did djs, start bringing the next track in with mid and high both at 12 ?
Not criticising or anything I’m just curious, I have always had the mid around 10, hi around 11 to 12 then tweek gradual preferably end of phrases .

I would suggest reducing the mids (right deck) when the incoming track got loud enough in the mix to clash. it would be cool to reduce some of that tonal collision earlier and more. playing with the high knob is not gonna do anything super useful here. I never understand why DJs even touch the high EQ knob, it erases all that shiny percussive high end that usually layers very nicely.
