All I'm going to say is I too thought this hinge went in the middle. While I was installing it I had a union mandated smoke break and took the instructions with me out of "boredom". The instructions specifically say to install it at the top and NOT the middle. YES!!! I agree!!! Instructions are for homeowners!!

Just took one of these off the door to the garage because it was set so tight that it actually pulled the screws out from the wood.
Almost got my fingers clamped when I unscrewed it from the door side and it snapped back.

How to have a self closing door: just install a door, without a level. Closes on its own every time! 🤣🤣

I can't believe your showing the mortise for the hinge. Looks like a good way to strip the screws out.

DON'T tighten the hinge screws with a drill/driver you will strip out the holes if you aren't super And those spring hinges tend to mess up the hinges and screws and stuff too because all the leverage is in one place.
