At least 9 killed after deadly flash floods hit eastern Australia

Tens of thousands of people in Australia have been ordered to evacuate as heavy rains batter the country's east coast, submerging towns and stranding residents on rooftops. Authorities have warned of life-threatening flash floods. Nine people have been killed so far, and rescue teams are searching for at least four people who are reported missing. The wild weather is said to be moving south from Queensland, but flash flood warnings remain in northern New South Wales. Up to 15,000 houses in Brisbane have been affected by rising waters, and at least 50,000 are without power.
