Matt you walked past Paul McCartneys signature on the the Penny Lane sign, he signed it on the James Corbyn YT show. The Council put the plastic over the sign to protect the signature. They may have been too late with thousands of fingers touching it before the plastic went up.

Thanks for the video. The Cavern club closed in March 1973 after British Rail made a compulsory purchase of the warehouses. The basement which housed the Cavern Club (an old bomb shelter) was marked to be a ventilation shaft for the new Merseyrail underground railway . It was never built and the site became a car park. I think you will find that the original Strawberry Fields gates were taken into storage over ten years ago, and replaced with replicas. Nice to see all the sites anyway 👍

I really liked this video. I’m an American and in the late 1970s I discovered the Beatles. I kept hearing their songs on the radio and thought they were great songs…my brother was a big Stones fan during the 60s so he downplayed the Beatles. Anyway I hope one day to get over there and check out the Beatles sites!

Paul McCartney recently signed that Penny Lane sign that's why it's been secured

Thanks for posting . Great enthusiasm shown in exploring just some of what are many old Beatles haunts in the City and suburbs of Liverpool. For those who make the effort, it is certainly a very rewarding experience .

Great post! I'm glad you mentioned that it's not the original Cavern Club. A lot of people don't know.

Glad you enjoyed yourself. There is so much more around that area if you ever go back Johns primary school is just off Penny Lane and his Grammar school Quarry Bank is also nearby. His mum Julia was knocked down and killed by a car on Menlove Avenue and she is buried in nearby Allerton Cemetery. Brian Epsteins house is a few minutes drive away too. Queens Freddie Mercury once lived in Dovedale Towers which you would have passed on Penny Lane. Thank for the video.👍

I went there a while back while visiting the wife's family, we had a great time touring. I took photos of Liverpool & the beatles museum who asked me online if they could use them in their brochures. The cavern then was quite a depth & hot. But overall I found the people friendly & helpful.
