Utah creates an action plan to tackle Great Salt Lake dust

The Great Salt Lake Commissioner, tasked with coming up with a plan to save the shrinking lake, has created a priority list to tackle dust blowing off an exposed lakebed.

With all the construction going on all these contractors and developers need to put water trucks on the job sites to stop the dust from blowing around. What about the silicates in the construction dust ? Why do we turn a blind eye to it? There is more going on than just the Great Salt lake.

This should be the top issue for the state of Utah. Nothing else matters compared to this.

It's nothing compared to the dust in KC. I lived in SLC for the first two decades of my life. They didn't call the MidWest the Dust Bowl for nothing. 🤣

Instead of allowing foreign entities, or domestic ones to pour out the water we as city dwellers built infrastructure for and pay for treatment into the desert to grow feed crops so foreign countries can export it cheaply to grow cheap beef, we should instead allow that water to refill the lake. I saw estimates that upwards of 80% of our water is used for agriculture..in a desert! Hello! Why??

In other words they have no idea what they are going to do about it. so long as they get money to talk about what to do about dust everything is okay. Think about that, they need more money for dust!

They need to fill it back up to 1991 levels. The Great Salt Lake is key to our snow levels in UT. CO. And Wyoming. Its the melting Snow that gives water to the Colorado River, the Green River all of these States water systems, Lakes, Rivers. That Snow also keeps our Forests from burning every summer. The Great Salt Lake doesnt freeze therefore it seeds Snow storms (lake effect) when its only half of its size compared to 1991 and prior years its only going to help produce half the Snow. Refill it.

The lake has risen a couple feet. I believe it needs about 5 more feet.
It's not dust. It's smoke from the wild fires in California, Oregon and Nevada.
