You know, I was like “oh okay yeah that’s steep but oh well” then when he said that $36 is half of a doctors salary, I lost my damn mind. That fact is way more astonishing than the price of the gun

Most people on the US have no idea how good we have it. My mother lived through the Korean War & constantly tells me that she wishes she had the opportunities I have when she was young.

I remember once we had exchange programs on the islands. We had a few Cubans for a 3 month program. When they got their first paycheck, they all cried and started naming out the things they are going to do for their families.

I had a coworker who came from Cuba, he had only very positive things to say, but when someone was working slow, not giving it their all, you could see it visibily upset him. I asked him one day while we were in the car does it bother him when other people work slow around him (people that don't affect him, cashiers, waiters, managers, etc). His reply still stick to me this day, he said, one days work here in America is like a year of labor in Cuba, I wish they knew how good they have it, they can buy anything they want, while people back home can't even pay for food after working 14 hour day. I just wish people would appreciate the things they have...

When you pull out gum at school gets a whole new meaning.

Him not realizing the reason they are so much is because the country he's now living in has made it that way. He's actually helping them by putting money into their economy
